Ear drum surgery. Electrodes placed in a 35 year old male patient's forehead prior to surgery to repair a perforated eardrum. The electrodes monitor facial nerve function during the operation. They are being used as the operation site is very close to the root of this facial nerve. Monitoring the nerve will help to prevent any damage to it.
