The lunch room, restaurants, drug store, cigarstore and all inside concessions are leased to the UnionNews Company. Before boarding trains passengers are required topurchase tickets which are canceled by the gatemanat the Entrance to Trains door. This leads directlyto a stairway which gives access to an undergroundpassageway, from which passengers come up again toconcrete platforms between the tracks in the train shed. Cement Sidewalk. GENERAL LAYOUT OF TERMINAL BUILDING AND TRAIN SHED Special attention is called to the provisions made toprevent confusion of passengers. When the train isready it is announced through annunciator hornslocated on the east wall of the waiting room andthrough similar horns located in the retiring rooms andrestaurants. The announcing can be done either bythe trainmaster in the signal tower, seen in the back-ground in one of the illustrations, or by the gatemanfrom a booth near the head of the tunnel stairs. Beforea passenger enters the tunnel he sees the announcementboard at the head of the stairs, and in the tunneleach track is clearly marked. In the train shed, over-head boards again signify the track upon which adesired train stands. All trains enter the shed from the south end and asthey approach the entrance the trainmaster in the signaltower throws the proper air-controlled switch at thesame time setting to red a light at the north end ofthe track.
