Restored houses in Sighnaghi in the Kakheti Valley in Georgia. Historians say that wine has been made in the Kakheti Valley - a verdant belly of fertile plains ridged with the snow capped Greater Caucasus Mountains - for more than 8000 years. A charming 18th century citadel with cobble streets and superb views over the Kakheti Valley and Greater Caucasus Mountains, Sighnagh's candy coloured gallery houses are being scrubbed and buffed and restored for tourism.
