Syph-ilitic epiphysitis shows on the roentgeno-gram as an irregular epiphyseal line, thickened epiphyses and periosteal newbone formation on the shaft side of theepiphyseal line. It differs from tubercu-losis in that in the latter we find rarefac-tion. Syphilis affects the epiphyseal siderather than the diaphysis.
