They delight in a warm, thoroughlypulverized, very rich soil. Plant in hills in May, mixing with the soil in each hill a shovelful or two of rotted manure. For bush varietiesthe hills should be from five to six feet apart; for running sorts, ten feet apart. Put eight or ten seeds in each hill, and when well grown,thin, leaving two or three of the strongest plants in each hill.
