Steel Fire Lookout Tower on Belle Ayre Mountain (65 feet high), Pine Hill, N. Y. Forest, Fish and Game Commission 25 OBSERVATION stations There are at present twenty observation stations maintained,where observers are on the watch for forest fires. This numberincludes nine which were in operation last year and eleven whichwere constructed during the past winter and spring. The namesof the stations, their location, date of installation, costs and otherinformation in regard to them are submitted herewith. A report of the fires observed from each station follows. Thenumber of such fires does not agree with the total number of firesthat occurred because many of the fires burned early in the seasonand before the stations were equipped. There are also fires thatwere not observed from any stations because some localities are notsufficiently near or in proper range of the observers. This empha-sizes the necessity of more stations properly located. Record of Fire Reported from
