Four to six dull or bluish white eggs,unmarked, are laid in May, in a nest built of twigs, hay, andweeds, on the ground; yet the clumsy affair was the joint effortof the mates, that also take turns in sitting and in feeding theyoung. A smaller edition of Coopers hawk (to be distinguishedfrom it chiefly by its square, instead of rounded, tail), like it,dashes through the air with a speed and audacity that spreadconsternation among the little song and game
