Rochford Reservoir, Rochford, Essex, UK. 16th Jan, 2023. A lone seal has found its way from the North Sea via the River Roach into a freshwater lake. It has been living off the stocks of fish which the lake has been populated with, raising concerns from the local anglers. First spotted in mid-December the council, Environment Agency, divers and Essex constabulary’s wildlife team are debating how to remove the seal and return it to the wild. The Reservoir is owned by Rochford Council but licenced to Marks Hall Fisheries to manage the angling and fish stocks
