The Ayuntamiento or City Hall is of modern construction, 20th century, with lavish decoration and a central clock tower. The City Council has been based there since 1934. Outstanding features include the great balcony, entrance hall with marble staircase and the assembly/ceremonial hall. The building houses a museum, municipal archives and various offices of the administration.
