Iphigenia surrounded by assistants depicted as the priestess of the Taurian Artemis in the Roman fresco from the House of Lucius Caecilius Iucundus (Casa di Lucio Cecilio Giocondo) in Pompeii (1-79 AD), now on display in the National Archaeological Museum (Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli) in Naples, Campania, Italy. Iphigenia, in the solemn dress of the priestess of the Taurian Artemis, leaves the temple surrounded by assistants to greet the young prisoners (only part of their figures remains). Among them she will discover her brother Orestes and his faithful friend Pylades.
