Quasars are typically formed from an extremely powerful and luminous active galactic nucleus (AGN) powered by a central supermassive black hole. Three separate elements of this quasar are seen here, including some substructure. This quasar is some 13 billion light years from Earth, in the constellation of Aquarius. The image data is from 2018, and was obtained in the 18-centimetre band by the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA).
