It does well on all kinds of soil; being an imperfect flower, it only reaches perfec- tion when fertilized with some good stamen kind, as Jessie. Like all straw- berries, it requires a liberal amount of manure; the plant is a strong grower, with only a limited number of runners; dark green foliage, and does not blight or rust; enormously productive ; the fruit is large, light red, handsome and Bubach Strawberry. delicious. Barly. Crescent Seedling. (P.) Medium to large, conical, slightly de- pressed at the apex ; color bright scarlet; flesh soft, quite acid ; plant very vigorous and hardy, and for productiveness has scarcely an equal; very profitable for home market. Seasons early to late. Cumberland Triumph. Very large ; beautiful light red : plant a fine grower and productive ; one of the handsomest and most showy varieties. A popular sort for the garden or near the market, but not firm enough for distant shipments. Gandy. A new very late kind: the fruit is uniformly large, bright red, firm and of first quality ; very valuable as a shipper; requires high cultivation to bring it to perfection, is valuable as a ferti- lizer to use with other kinds, making the latter more faithful; the best late variety. James Vi:k. Medium to large; roundish, conical ; dark crimson, moderately firm ; quality fair. Plant vigorous, healthy and very productive. Needs high culture. Jers
