Simulation of the effect of myopia (short-sight) on the visual field, revealed in this view of activity in Regent's Street, London. In myopia, light rays are brought to a point of focus in front of the retina, rather than on it, as in a normal eye. Objects at a distance of greater than 6 meters from the eye appear blurred and cannot be made sharp by the process of accommodation (the focusing mechanism of the lens of the eye). The condition is corrected by wearing spectacles or contact lenses with concave lenses.
