Sampan, pink canopy and flags, moored in front of the Ap Lei Chau Bridge and Jumbo Restaurant, Aberdeen Harbour, Hong Kong
The Ap Lei Chau Bridge joins developments either side of Aberdeen Harbour. The sun (behind the camera) shines on a sampan, which may ferry visitors to the Jumbo Floating Restaurant, in the rear of the view, or take tourists on a round trip of the harbour: out through the western end; into the East Lamma Channel; back through the typhoon shelter at the eastern end. The Jumbo Restaurant Complex, decorated in the style of an ancient Chinese imperial palace, was designed and built by Hong Kong magnate Stanley Ho for HK$ 30 million. Since opening in October 1976, the floating restaurant has attracted 30 million visitors. Ornamental golden barges transport visitors from the Jumbo Restaurant Pier to Aberdeen Promenade
