A statue of the patron saint for which the St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Santa Fe, New Mexico, was named.

Designed by Bishop Jean Baptiste Lamy, Cathedral Church of San Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe was built in 1895. Under the direction of French architect Antoine Mouly, the church was built around an existing, smaller church, used as a support. The inner structure, an old adobe church, was later dismantled and the bricks reused in other buildings in town.
