Alan- well, and is seedling of the Crescent fertilized with the Sharpless, and is described by the originator as fol- lows: ''The Manwell combines all the good qualities of both parents. It has a very small calyx which does not part from the berry without an effort—in fact it retains its cap bet- ter than any variety we have yet tested. This, combined with its firm'less, large size and glossy, crimson color, makes it a great ship- per. We fruited this one and got large berries to the very last pick- ing from it and lots of them.
