Shrubs are now universally recognizedas an important, in fact, an indispensablefeature in the embellishment of the homegrounds. They lend themselves to manyuseful as well as ornamental purposes inthe creation of a beautiful landscape; hereto screen some necessary, but unsightlyobject, there as a hedge to indicate a di-viding line, and again as a background toa border of hardy flowering plants. We are often asked for information re-garding the planting and subsequent careof shrubs. Briefly we recommend a goodgarden soil, well enriched with decayedbarnyard manure.
