Caddis larva UK

A photograph of a caddis larva, order Trichoptera, on a white background in its protective and camouflaged case. Caddis larva spend their time in freshwater and there are about 200 different species of them in the UK. They build a protective case out of available materials before eventually pupating and emerging as an adult caddis, or sedge, fly. This example, found in the Dorset Stour river, has made its case almost entirely from tiny twigs. Dorset England UK GB
