Santa Maria de Cervello church. Cervello.

Is documented from the beginning of the century X. At that time it was only a Romanesque chapel dedicated to the Holy Cross at Sant Steve and Sant Dalmau, and depended on the monastery of Sant Cugat. The building must have been built has reached the end of the eleventh century. It is made of local stone, reddish and consists of a nave with a barrel vault crown with a semicircular apse. This is divided internally into three niches rounded arch, separated by semi columns and open paths with double slit windows. The exterior is decorated with Lombard arches and pilasters. Especially emphasizes the dome, octagonal, domed shells and decorated externally similarly to the apse. The door with a triangular pediment is Renaissance and was probably added in about the year 1580. At the same time they built two chapels covered with vault. The author of this reform was Lleonard Bosch, who made the same church alcoholic. In the early eighteenth century it added two more. The restoration removed some contemporary additions that disfigured the set, including a bell tower that rises above the dome. Near the church you can see the anthropomorphic tombs of ancient medieval cemetery.
