We have no hesitation in offering this as the finest of all dark-colored Tore- nias ; the plant forms a compact bush, 6 inches high, which is com- pletely covered from May until frost with mammoth flowers, the lower and side petals of a deep velvety indigo-purple, the upper petal deep lavender, the whole being relieved by a golden-yellow blotch at the base of the lower petal; for baskets, vases, or for edges of borders or beds, it is unequaled.
