The Ghent Alterpeice (also known as the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb or The Lamb of God). The Alterpeice is made up of 12 panels, eight of which are hinged shutters. Although the work was commissioned by Hubert van Eyck (1385-90 - 1426) the majority of the work was completed by his younger brother Jan van Eyck (1390 - 1441). The three central characters from left to right are: The Virgin Mary, The Almighty, John the Baptist. Dated 15th Century.
