At Esquimaux portage onLake Kapachoa, at the southern side ofthe Height of Land was seen the north-ernmost post of the Government survey—a post erected by Surveyor Garneau in1890. As to the region beyond that postthere seems to be no reliable diiTerent maps published by theGovernment were found to be wrong inevery particular. Lakes from five totwenty-five miles long are dotted all overthe country by scores, and I estimate thattwenty-five per cent of the country isunder water. ROD AND GUN IN CANADA 811.
