Bush fire burning across grassland. The advancing front of flames has left blackened and scorched ground behind it. Such fires may be started deliberately to clear land for agricultural use, or can be due to natural causes. In the long term the effects of fires can be beneficial as dormant seeds will sprout to replace the burnt plants which will decay, returning nutrients to the soil.
