Head and thorax black; palpi at base, frons, vertex of head, meso- and metathorax, coxic, and legs with patches of white ; abdomen black, with subdorsal and lateral white spots on 1st seg- ment, the other segments with broad subdorsal golden-green stripes, sublateral series of white points, and ventral fascia; wings black. Fore wing with hyaline streak below costa ; a bifid wedge-shaped patch in cell; a fascia below the cell and elongate spots between veins 2 and 7, reduced and small in male. Hind wing with hyaline patch in cell; streak below cell and spots between veins 2 and 6. Uah. Uppek Amazons, Fonteboa, 1 $ type, S in Coll. Staudinger. Exp., (S 30, $ 32 millim. Genus DIXOPHLEBIA. Proboscis well developed ; palpi upturned, the 2ik1 joint reaching vertex of head, the iird well developed and obtuse ; antenuaj of male bipectinate, with short branches ; tibite lung, the spurs moderate; abd(jmen long, the terminal segment with lateral and anal tufts. Fore wing narrow towards base; veins 2 and 3 irom a point near end of cell; 4, 5 from angle ; 6 from upper angle ; 7, 8, 9, 10 stalked ; 11 from cell; veins 2-7 of male thickly fringed with long hair above.
