Cervinia, Italy. 10th July 2015. Matterhorn south face (Italian name Cervino) is floodlit at night to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first ascents.


Matterhorn (italian Cervino) is a 4478 m mountain on the Italian Swiss border. It was climbed for the first time in July 1865 by Edward Whymper on the north side and Jean-Antoine Carrel on the south side. July 2015 is the 150th anniversary of those ascents.
