This photo dates to World War I. It shows a Servian officer's odd shelter. Here is the headquarters of Major Merse (on platform) in command of the advanced lines at Gradek, on the Varda River. A crude silo is shown at the right of the picture. The French and British forces proved inadequate to save Servia from her enemies.
