One of the earliest lie detectors was invented by James Mackenzie in 1902. In 1921 John Augustus Larson invented a mor reliable machine which was improved upon by Leonard Keeler in the 1930s .It became known as the “Compact Keeler Polygraph“. The basic design is still used today. Legal & medical bodies argue about its accuracy. The Stoelting Polyscribe the worlds first all electronic polygraph arrived in 1988 followed by the computerised Polygraph in 1992.
