The two proposed structures consist of aone-story engineering laboratory building, and a five-story mill typebuilding. Welding is expected to result in a considerable saving overriveting by the elimination of many plates and angles, and in somecases by the use of lighter structural numbers. A CAST iron hot water supply boiler exploded io Baltimore,Maryland, on December 28th, 1925, under peculiar circumstancesin view of the fact that it had never been fired up since it wasinstalled. The boiler, which was constructed for a maximum waterpressure of 60 lbs., was connected to a steel supply tank and also to apipe heating coil in the firebox of a cast iron steam heating boiler, asshown by the accompanying sketch. ^ h 4^
