Small part of Guzelyurt, one of the most beautiful towns of Cappadocia, in Aksaray prefecture, close to Ihlara Valley. Turkey

Here you can see a small part of Guzelyurt (older names "Karballa", "Gelveri", in greek "Καρβάλη"="Karvali"), one of the most beautiful towns of Cappadocia, in Aksaray prefecture, around 12 km from Ihlara Valley. Guzelyurt is a "miniature" of the whole region of Cappadocia, with a valley of rock-cut Orthodox monasteries, an underground city and beautiful architecture. Before the exchange of populations between Turkey and Greece in 1924, "Karvali" was for the Greeks of Aksaray, what Sinassos ("Mustafapasa") was for the Greeks of Nevsehir: their "capital".
