Uranus. Time-lapse montage of three telescopic images of the planet Uranus. This is the seventh planet from the Sun, orbiting at a distance of over billion kilometres. It has a diameter of over 50,000 kilometres, around 4 times that of Earth, and a volume of around 65 Earths. It is considered an ice giant, with an icy interior and an atmosphere of hydrogen and helium. These images were taken on 27 September 2010, from Barbados in the West Indies, using a C14 telescope and CCD camera, with a 600-1000nm filter. The timings of the images, from left to right, are: 02:36 UTC, 03:10 UTC, 03:51 UTC.
