Mr. Schmidtbrought with him someseeds from green and gol-den willows, from the State of Slwi-nesota which he planted around hisresidence—they are all doing well. In 1904 he planted 1,000 Russian pop-lars; in 1905, ^lanitoba maplesand in 1906 he planted 1,000 ash these trees are in a thriving con-dition and show up remarkably wellfor ones so recently planted. will plant 1,100 Russian pop-lars this year for a wind break, ashe finds these trees to be of veryrapid growth.
