Fuyt advisesthe primary current and Schroder uses the secondary current of thefaradic battery, while Eiafner advocates the reduced direct alternating current cannot be used tor such a purpose unl<generator he interposed to change it to a direct current. Allinvestigators, however, obtained precisely the same results. Tojudge from the various publications on the subject, coupled withour observations, the primary and secondary combined faradic cur-rent i- best suited tor this work on account of the simplicity of theapparatus and the easy manner in which this current can be Ii,. 49. —Induction coil pulp tester. The Faradic Current and Its Accessories. The faradic batterydelivers an easily controlled current of minute quantity. Twoforms of induction coils, in connection with the battery, arc ingeneral use the induction coil with a core shield the tube ofDuchenne) and the sledge induction coil of Du Bois-Raymond. Thesource of electricity for the smaller induction coil is usually receivedfrom a single dip battery (acid potassium bichromate solution oran >rdinary dry cell, while the sledge induction coil may be fedfrom a series of batteries, or from the streel current reduced by arheostat. The small induction coil with one dry cell battery givesuniversal satisfaction and on account oi it- cheapness, simplicityand easy transportation deserves to he recommended. More com-plicated types of apparatuses may be obtained from electric ordental supply houses.
