SunCrisp apples for sale at the Granville Island Public Market in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The SunCrisp apple was developed at Rutgers University by Dr. Fred Hough in the 1990's. A crisp, firm, yellow apple with a red blush, the beautiful apple is the result of cross-breeding Golden Delicious, Cortland, and Cox's Orange Pippin apples. Originally known as NJ55, the apple is known for its crispiness and acidic taste. SunCrisp apples also feature a long shelf life if properly stored.
