Winding gear at the Long Engine House at the remains of the Magpie Mine, near Sheldon, Derbyshire. The ruins are a Scheduled Monument and are protected by law. The mine is always open to visitors, free of charge. It is cared for and maintained by the Peak District Mines Historical Society. Lead mining was carried out on this site for ovber 250 years.
