DREER Dreer's Select Dahlias WHOLESALE CATALOG New Dwarf Dahlias for Forcing and the Garden A new race of dwarf compact plants excellent for spring forcing and garden use, covered with flowers seldom more than four inches in diameter. Divisions potted in January and grown cool can easily be brought into flower for Mother's Day. They can be flowered in a limited way for Easter. We again offer green plants of these (ready in May) from three-inch pots. These will make good plants for garden use and, when dug and cured in the fall, will divide into fine stock for forcing purposes the following winter and spring. The value of this type for greenhouse forcing to bloom for Mother's Day has been thoroughly estab- lished. Several large growers have been very success- ful with them. They require a temperature of about 60 degrees from January until flowering time. We are in a position to supply a limited quantity of the following varieties in field-grown roots for this purpose. We particularly recommend Maria which is a decided improvement on Easter Greeting. Christine. Pure white flowers of small size. Blooms profusely. Easter Greeting. White flowers, larger and of better form than Christine but not so early. Elsie Elsie. Deep golden yellow passing to rich orange- carmine toward the tips. Of good size and excellent form. Gertrude. Clean sulphur-yellow. Good sized flowers borne profusely on very compact plants. Rate. Showy bright orange-scarlet flowers of formal contour. Lena. Delicate pink. Ursula. An intense crimson with carmine reverse. Flowers comparatively large. New Dwarf Forcing Dahlia Maria This variety is a decided improvement on Easter Greeting and in Europe it has already displaced that variety for forcing purposes.
