Osella is an Italian racing car manufacturer and former Formula One team. They participated in 132 Grands Prix between 1980 and 1990. The early history of Abarth-Osella PA2, chassis number ‘013’, is not known although the car is believed to have remained in Italy between 1974 and 1988. From 1988 to 1990 it was owned by Michael Rahal in the USA, passing via John Weinberger’s Continental Classic Motors in Hinsdale, Illinois to Richard Arnold in the UK in 1991. The car was driven by Richard Arnold’s son, Steven in historic sports car events including Supersports and the RJB Mining series before being sold to the current owner in 2001. At that time ‘013’ was fitted with some PA3 parts and a PA9 body, but has since been restored and returned to correct PA2 specification. While in the vendor’s hands it has competed in numerous historic events including the Brands Hatch 2-Hours, leading the race before finishing 2nd overall; won its Thundersports class at Spa Francorchamps (from 35th on the grid) and secured a class win in the Trofeo Enzo Ferrari hill climb at Maranello. It was last raced in April 2004 at the Camucia-Cortona hill climb. The previously fitted BMW M12 engine has since been removed and the car is offered in rolling chassis form, complete with Hewland FGA 400 transaxle.
