Theodore Leslie Shear (1880-1945) and his wife Josephine Platner Shear, US archaeologists. They are admiring a statuette of Apollo Lykeios (Apollo Lyceus). Theodore Leslie Shear was professor of classical archaeology at Princeton University, and is best known for his excavation of an ancient marketplace in Athens. His wife, Josephine Platner attended Wellesley College (graduating 1924) and obtained her masters degree from Columbia University (1928). Photographed on 27 July 1936.
