At the very beginning of the college year a heavy calamity fell upon the Arbutusmanagement, the class of igio, and, indeed, the entire University, when death took fromamong us our friend and classmate, George Frank Trimble, of Evansville. The prom-inence of the man, the love and esteem in which he was held, and the appalling sudden-ness of his death made his loss a shock from which it took days to recover. This was to have been his book. Last spring he was elected business manager of the1910 Arbutus, a position for which his energy and high sense of responsibility andhonor well fitted him. Already he had made plans for the work, and we have tried tocarry it out along the lines he suggested. Duke, as he was familiarly and affectionately called, was in his twenty-sixth year,having been born April 22, 1883, St. Lawrence, South Dakota. While yet a child, hisparents removed to Evansville, Ind., where hegraduated from High School in 1901. On MayII, 1903, he matriculated at Indiana Universit
