Fruit usually with only one nutlet. Small tree, occasionally thornless, which uncommonly spreads from COCKSPUR THORN Crataegus crus-galli Leaf base narrow. Leaves essentially unlobed, mostly less than 3 cm. wide, glossy above. Fruit with 1-3 nutlets. Calyx lobes untoothed. Small tree. Uncommon. LONG-SPINED THORN Crataegus macracantha â or C. succulents var. macracantha) Leaf base narrowed. Leaves sometimes with small lobes and mostly wider than 3 cm., often glossy above.
