Sicily, Italy - September 2019; The Villa Romana del Casale is a lavish Roman palace located near to the town of Piazza Armerina in Sicily. Excavations have revealed one of the most spectacular, colourful and varied collections of Roman mosaics in the world. The villa and artwork contained within date to the early 4th century CE, and are beautifully preserved due to the extensive landslides and floods which covered their remains. The entire complex been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This mosaic is the Grat Hunt, and depicts wild animals being loaded on a ship for a presumably gory end in the arena.
