Francisco Javier Arias Dávila Matheu y Carondelet (1812-1890). 13th Count of Puñonrostro. Spanish military officer and politician. In September 1864 he was promoted to lieutenant general and appointed director general of Artillery. He held office of mayor of Madrid from January 1864 to January 1865. After the revolution of 1868, he remained loyal to Queen Isabella II. He was banished in 1871 for refusing to recognise Amadeo I. By the Restoration, in 1875, he was once again assigned to the Directorate-General of Artillery, a charge he held until 1881. Appointed president of the Senate on 16 May
