The Baptistry of St. John (Battistero di San Giovanni) Pisa, Italy. The Baptistery is close to the Duomo di Pisa (Pisa Cathedral) and the cathedral's free-standing campanile, the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. The baptistry was designed by Diotisalvi, and is the largest baptistry in Italy. It was begun in 1153 in a Romanesque style with rounded arches, and completed in the 1300s in the Gothic style, with pointed arches. It is built on the same unstable ground as the Leaning Tower, and has a slight lean of degrees.
