Southampton,Hampshire Tuesday 19th September 2017 A murder has been launched after a man was killed in a late-night incident in Southampton street. Armed police descended on Northam after a 39-year-old was assaulted on the junction of Union Road and Radcliffe Road, at around last night. The man was taken to Southampton General Hospital, where he later died. His next of kin have been informed. Southampton District Commander Superintendent Ali Heydari said: “My team will have a visible presence in the community today. "We understand that serious incidents such as this will be concerning. Please do speak to officers on patrol or call us at Southampton Central on 101.” People living in Radcliffe Road say the victim was stabbed a number of times before being taken to hospital. One resident said: "I heard a commotion and saw a man lying in the middle of the road being worked on by the ambulance service. "He had been stabbed several times and died. "It's absolutely shocking. You see this sort of thing on television but you don't expect to see it on your own doorstep. "People have had to tell their children there's been an accident.
