Nesting storks are a common sight across rural areas of central and eastern Europe in summer. The birds build huge nests on roofs and at the tops of electricity poles, as well as at the tops of poles specially built by the local people. A very homely scene, the sight of nesting storks is a very popular one, and much folklore surrounds these birds. This image shows a family in its nest on the edge of a village inside Zemaitija National Park, Lithuania.
