Harefield, UK. 25th January, 2024. HS2 construction work is continuing in Harefield, in the London Borough of Hillingdon, on the HS2 High Speed Rail Colne Valley Viaduct which will take new high speed trains from London to Birmingham. An enormous orange 700 tonne bridge-building machine called Dominque is lifting the giant concrete deck segments that form the viaduct’s arches into position. From 1st February until 30th April, the footpath along the Grand Union Canal will be closed intermittently whilst the viaduct is built above the canal. Credit: Maureen McLean/Alamy
