Hudsotfs riven is one of thelargest in the United States. It rises in the mountain-ous country between the lakes Ontario and whole length is about 260 miles. From Albany tolake George, is 65 miles. The tide flows a few milesabove Albany, which is 160 miles from New York. Itis navigable for sloops of 80 tons to Albany, and forships to Hudson. About 40 miles below Albany, thewater is fresh.
