Early Richmond.—Medi- um ; red, juicy, acid, sprightly. A valuable variety on account of earliness and productiveness. It will hang a long time on the tree. Excellent for cooking and pies. Olivet.—A variety of French origin. Large, globular; deep red, glossy; tender, rich, sub-acid; good bearer. Montmorenc y.—Large; bright, shining red ; acid ; late ; valuable. Larger than Early Richmond. Hardy and produc- tive. May Duke.—Large ; deep red; melting, juicy,rich, very fine; popular, productive, reliable. Cherries will thrive on most any soil not springy and wet. The trees, which are naturally hardy, the Heart and Bigarreau varieties, being of rapid growth, and producing crops of splen- did fruit; very little pruning is necessary. MERCER.—A Heart variety ; very dark red and early; very productive, eood grower and hardy; larger than Black Tar- tarian ; flavor very fine. Good shipper, and commands highest prices ; does not rot. The introducers claim for this'variety that it is the finest Heart Cherry
