The missionary and his wife die short-ly, leaving the little child alone in astrange wilderness. She wanders off inthe same direction as that taken by thebearers when they fled. She arrives atthe temple shortly after the loss of theidol has been discovered by a Buddhistpriest, who has rushed out to summonthe natives. Finding a
