"Soaked Britain has seen the largest deployment of fire and rescue services since the Second World War. The Government's chief fire and rescue adviser Peter Holland said that 70% of the fire and rescue services in England and Wales were now involved in the flood relief effort. The news comes as the Environment Agency warned that hundreds of properties remain at risk of flooding. With the Met Office warning of more heavy rain and high winds with gusts of up to 80mph, the EA said it could be weeks for inundated communities to get back to normal." Daily Telegraph
