Competitors racing during the Bart's Bash sailing regatta at the Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre in Weymouth, Dorset today. Bart's Bash is a fundraising event for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation (ASSF) set up following the death of the Olympic gold and silver medal winning Star sailor Andrew 'Bart' Simpson. 18,000 sailors in 67 countries competed to set a Guinness World Record for the largest ever sailing race. The ASSF was set up by Bart's widow Leah and life-long friends and fellow Olympians Sir Ben Ainslie and Iain Percy. Simpson drowned in San Francisco Bay when his Artemis, America's Cup catamaran capsized and broke up during routine preparations in May, 2013. The ASSF gets children, between the ages of five and 24, sailing, providing opportunities for young people to grow and achieve excellence.
